In American Rated X means that something is not allowed for kids, With Rated XX we’ve made a beer that’s SERIOUSLY not suited for kids. But on that note we have to admit, that we’re just kids ourselves. Nothing but geeky kids who love to play around with….hops. Most things have already been tried in the wondrous world of beer, but we seriously doubt that any other brewery has ever released a beer that contains: Zeus, Mittelfrüh, Brewers Gold, Crystal, Simcoe, Perle, Mt, Hood, Hersbrücker, Challenger, Fuggles, Liberty, Styrian Goldings, Columbus, Chinook, Amarillo, Bramling Cross, East Kent Goldings, Willamette, Palisade and Saaz hops in the same brew. Yep, you got it right, we’ve added no less than 20 (XX) different hops during our 120 minute boil. A new addition of hops every 3 minutes. To balance this hoppy hell we created a solid malt bill consisting of English Crystal and Maris Otter malts. Out of all this rises a fairly solid Imperial IPA that – not surprisingly – is rather hoppy. In your glass you’ll find a complex mist of hop aroma with the smooth peachy notes being the most prominent. Rated XX is the ultimate wet dream for all you hopheads out there. Try it now, ‘cause you’ll never get the chance again.

Bottle from thewolf, thanks! Dirty brown color. Huge grapefruit and red berries aroma with hints of cinnamon and pepper. Strong oily hopbitter flavor with grapefruit and red berries hiding behind the intense bitterness, that lingers on and on in the aftertaste. The balance of this brew could be better.

Backlog rating from RBESG 2008, grand tasting: Cloudy orange, golden brown head. Pure broad hop aroma. Creamy mouthfeel. Hop oils, oranges, grass, pine. Not overdone, nice!

Hopfiger, aber nicht übertriebener Antrunk, süffig. Die Hopfigkeit ist recht eigen, man merkt den Mix von Hopfensorten. Das es nun 20 sind wahrlich nicht, aber gut. Süffig bleibend, angenehm intensiv. Im weiteren Verlauf deutlich bitterer, auch hier erwartet man bei der Angabe von 200+ IBUs deutlich mehr. Angenehmes IIPA, das aber für seine Art doch eher mild ausfällt. Minimal alkoholisch. 12/11/11/11/10/11

Hazy amber with a beige head. Aroma is sweet caramel and very hoppy - pine and fruity. Flavor is quite sweet and extremely bitter. The bitterness seems to last forever. Apparently only 1000 bottles were made. I had the fortune of sharing two af them with a buddy of mine. 050310

this rate is for a beer that is way vintage. Original beer must’ve been awesome kindly shared by jens ungstrup @ ungstrup tasting cloudy amber smooth offwhite head. aroma is hoppy, lots of different kinds of hop aromas, but it all seems a bit subdued. flavor is very hoppy, mix of all sorts of hoppy flavors, malty balance. interesting how the hops mellow out over time.

EBF 2008. Muddy brown color. Strong, grapefruity, hoppy nose. Hop assault, but with a firm malty backbone. Solid bitter finish.

Bottle, from Papsoe. It’s quite ridiculous to put twenty different hops in one beer, but it works. It pours a clear, amber body under a small, dense, beige head. Pinecones, resin, some citrus and lots of apricot in the aroma, where also some sweet malt is let inside. There’s also a little solvent-like touch. In the mouch, the malts and hops blends more evenly, but it’s still on the hoppy side, where piney and resiny hops plays on a background of sweet maltyness. Some peaches as well, and of course a whole lot of bitterness. Full-bodied and almost astringent bitter. An extreme and amazing beer. Even though it’s very hopped, it also shows some balance. Or at least, it has both hops and malts. (081003)

Bottle. Amber colour with a beige head. Aroma is very hoppy and fruity. Flavour is hop, grapefruit, malt ,fruit. Very nice beer.

Bottle (RBESG 08): Hazy, amber-orangey coloured coloured, smaller beige foam; distinctive hops hops and grains and liquorice in the nose; quite light bodied for a beer of 9%, dry bitter flavour, full bodied; lingering, never ending dry hoppy finish. A bit unharmonic, but a very good stuff.....

(6/29/08) Bottle sample at RBESG08 grand tasting in Plzen. Brown color with a beige head and some floaties. Aroma is full of piney hops, a bit of resin and some citrus. Flavor is a bit sweet at first but turns very quickly to dry hoppiness with some pine, maybe a tiny bit of eucalyptus and some citrus. Medium to full body.
