The distinctive brewing specialty, once invented by the Cottbus master brewer Gustav Schultze, contains less alcohol. A malty-round taste experience with clear liquorice and caramel notes, which are combined with aromas of figs and dried plums.

500ml bottle [Thanks again, Gunnar!]. Minimalyl cloudy, dark brown colour with ruby glimmer and average, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, off-white head. Grainy aroma with hints of spelt, artificial sweetener, malt lozenge. Taste is sweet, malty, slightly sugary, hints of malt lozenge and rock sugar, aspartame overtones. I don't know if this is reminiscent of the GDR, but there are some other beers around in Saxony (cf. e.g. Lausitzer Porter) that dispense any seriousness concerning kind and quality of ingredients as well as effort to meet the style.

0.5l bottle from rewe in charlottenburg. pours a clear dark chestnut with a small beige head. aroma of toasted malts, nuts, meh. flavour of cola zero, prunes, malta, meh again. artificial sweetener has no place here, really. well, at least low alcohol makes it somewhat drinkable.

Clear dark brown colour, small frothy beige head, diminishes quickly, light lacing. Aroma sweet malty, toasted, brown sugar, caramel notes. Taste heavy sweet, sugary. Light body, oily to watery texture, soft carbonation, aftertaste sugary sweet, artificial, liquorice notes. One-dimensional beer, more like a Malzbier.

0,5 l bottle. Black label design for a black content. Tastes the whole way like industrial malt-drink, very sweet, maybe a little bit more malt and herb than that. Not a real beer. Anyhow, thanks to coinside for that bottle. (17.03.2013)

Bottle, small stable light beige head, deep brown colour, almost completely opaque, honey cookey malty aroma with a hint of metal, much to sweet honey and stale bread flavour, maybe a hint of bitterness. Revolting.
