Cask - no wonder. An amber beer with a thin bubbly head. The aroma has notes of malt and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of caramel, minerals, straw, and spicy hops, leading to a quite bitter finish.

[cask at Monks Retreat, Reading] Amber, slight white head, slight carbonation. Dry spicy bitterness up front, followed by some straw and a light and sweet fruitiness - orange and peach?. Some wood comes through in the tail, with a dry finish. Recognisable Marstons flavour, but - surprisingly - this is a decent beer, and I enjoyed it more than I normally would for something this dry and bitter.

From cask. Pours clear and golden yellow to orange with fully gone almost white head. Mild fruity and slight malty base flavour. Light bitter and refreshing fruity accent. Biter and rather dry finish yet with a mild fruity hops note.

Clear golden with tiny white short lasting head. Sweet fruity aroma with floral hops. Sweet flavor with a fair amount of hops finishing it off bitter.

Cask at the Exeter Arms, Derby. Amber with a creamy white head; citrus aroma; creamy in the mouth with buttery citrus flavours; a deeply bitter finish with undertones of warming alcohol. Excellent.

Cask/GBBF. Golden with a small but lasting white head. Grassy aroma with a hint of butter. Dry and quite hoppy - for an ESB, not for the IPA name on the label.

Cask at the Boat Inn, Stoke Breune, Northants. Poured a fairly standard amber colour, aroma little bit sweet with some malt. Taste was very pleasant with malts backed up by caramel flavours and quite fruity as well.

Thin white head; light orange body. No aroma. Sweetish soft apple and tea taste with delicately bitter aftertaste. Lovely session beer, but could have more taste and complexity. (0.5pt on cask.)
