An unfiltered rice beer, Makku is a modern take on Korea’s oldest alcoholic beverage, Makgeolli. For the first time drinker, Makku is an unanticipated and new experience.
The liquid is smooth and hazy from the rice, yet is refreshingly light with just a kiss of sweetness. Bubbles give it a champagne-like suggestiveness. For Makku Blueberry, we take 100% pureed blueberries and blend it into our original Makku for a smooth blueberry fizzy alcohol.

Light purple-blue in color with a soda pop fizz. Aroma is blueberry. Flavor is a very pleasant fruity taste.

355ml can. Pours an opaque milky purple with a thin, bubbly, short lived, off-white head that fully dissipates. Sweet aroma of rice, tart red apple, funky yeast and alcohol. Sweet flavour of rice, sugar, vanilla, funky yeast, tart red apple and alcohol in a sweet finish. Light to medium body with a syrupy texture and soft carbonation. A little on the sweet side, but different and interesting.

Can from Harry & David in Medford, OR. Pours opaque purple with a slight but persistent foamy/bubbly purple tinged head. Mixed blueberry/rice aroma. Approaching med body. Flavor is blueberry with rather unusual (to me) rice. Dry/bitter is not in the picture. It's a tasty blueberry drink. Period.

12 oz. can. Hazy pink in color. Looks like pink milk. I guess the aroma is berries. It kind of taste like blueberry. Texture is medium body and crisp. It works pretty well as a pallet cleanser.

Can pour from share with AirForceHops--thanks? Chris! Appearance is murky pale purple (like someone poured some juice into a glass of milk), no discernible sparkle, swirl coats the glass, no head, no lacing, chunks at the bottom of the glass. Aroma is vague blueberry. Taste is moderately strong blueberry and rice. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with thick texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, reminds me of a blueberry version of horchata. Not unpleasant but hard to call it a beer.

Looks like a proto frappe. Interesting and certainly a palate cleanser.
