Bottle. Deep dark brown color. Chocolate, malt and licorice in the aroma. Roasted malt and licorice in the flavor. Medium bodied, alcoholic. Hint of tartness. Lacks refinement, though quite drinkable.

Bottle (tht march 2009) @ parents. Still tastes fine. Some appelstroop taste and sweetness has formed in this beer. Quite enjoyable. Pretty smooth. --- Beer merged from original tick of D'n Stoute Os on 07 Oct 2017 at 19:36 - Score: 8. Original review text: Best before march 2009 bottle @ found parents. Some appelstroop and sweetness in the taste. Quite smooth. Held up pretty nicely.

Bottled. A dark brown beer with a lazing brown head. The aroma has notes of alcohol, metal, malt, and oxydation. The flavor is sweet with notes of metal, oxydation, malt, and caramel, leading to a dry metallic finish.

Bottle 30 cl. Pours a clear, dark brown with an orange hue and a light brown head. Oxidized, raisiny aroma - more than roasted malt. Rich, sweet body, licorice and dark, dried fruit - oxidized. A light but gentle acidity. No real bitterness and the alcohol is rather downplayed. A little smoke comes late. 080614

Old bottle thanks to Joes @ home. Opaque pitch black color, small beige head. Smell malts, overripe fruits and raisins. Taste malts, sweetness, overripe fruits, lightly alcohol and raisins. A bit evolved into a barley wine almost. Still very drinkable though even after all those years (best before March 2009!). Medium body and carbonation. Nice.

Bottle at Het Arendsnest. Black beer, beige head. Aroma of sugar, roasted malts, liquorice. Lots of liquorice in the flavour, sweet sticky malts, some roastedness. Way too sweet for an Imperial Stout for my liking.
