Sour ale dry-hopped with Saaz, received as a gift from Hinke, thank you for this beautiful bottle! Quite thick and frothy, snow white, membrane-like lacing, stable head slowly thinning over a misty orangey peach blonde beer with a whirlwind of sparkling rushing through the mist; quite some protein flakes swirling around as well. Aroma of dried old grapefruit peel, unripe green plum, young wormwood leaf, grape seeds, bitter garden weeds, dry plywood, quince, cilantro, field flowers, dandelion, cooked broad bean skins, wet old leather. Green-fruity onset, unripe stonefruit wryness with a lemony edge but not harshly puckering, grape skin and even a very mild touch of apricot sweetishness hidden within; lively but very fine-bubbled effervescence, smooth but full, somewhat vinous mouthfeel, bready core dried by strong lactic tartness and woody tannins, the dryness of course enhanced by a long, rooty, grapefruit pith-tinged hop bitterness from the dry-hopping, flowery and peppery with mugwort-, cilantro- and dandelion-like effects but matching well with the ‘lambic-oid’ main character. The whole remains quite juicy and elegant, but does not lack depth at any point; bright, refined, sophisticated and very credible ‘pseudo-lambic’ reminiscent of Cantillon’s Cuvée Saint-Gilloise – a simple formula, but highly effective. I love this kind of beer.

Bottle. Unclear golden color with white head. Aroma is earthy, fresh funk, some sticky hops, quite flowery. Taste is the same. Oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Not bad!

Bottle pour at MBCC 2023, pours a hazy bright golden orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out spicy hops, wild yeast and some oak. Flavour is hoppy and oaky, with a nice wild yeast character, spicy saaz hops, and oak. Complex, buggy and hoppy. Nice stuff.
