An award-winning cask conditioned traditional dark mild. Well balanced malt and hops gives a pleasant aroma and taste, with splendid roasted bitter flavours.

Black Dog is a traditional dark mild at 3.6% ABV. It has many CAMRA awards to its name and is a well-known brand in the free-trade. The beer is well balanced with a full roast flavour.

The use of crystal malt and roast barley give a deep underlying characteristic flavour, which is balanced with Fuggles hops as the sole variety.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours a dark brown with small off-white head with ok retention. Aroma of sweet caramel malts, brown sugar, chocolate, raisins, blackcurrant. Very pleasant. Taste has a dry roastiness to the malts, cola, light chocolate, raisins, nice berry fruity tang Good smooth body for the strength, fine carbonation. Very nice. I wish more breweries did a mild, its a great style if you're in the mood for a lighter beer. I've had my fill of Session IPAs.

Creamy off white head on a chestnut coloured body. Malt, fruity & grain aroma. Medium to thin bodied, lightly carbonated & clean on the back. Treacle, roasted, burnt & malt tastes with grainy citrussy finish. Probably way better on Cask.

Bottle online from Beers Of Europe. Pours almost black with no head. Aromas of dark fruits, dry dark fruits, caramel, molasses and liquorice. Taste has more dark fruits, plums, stewed fruit, caramel with more hints of molasses and liquorice. Thin body and fizzy mouthfeel. Could do with more body but decent enough for the abv.

Bottle from British Local Craft. Has a subtle aroma of roasted malts with traces of dark fruits. Pours a deep reddish brown with a variable (but transient) beige head. Fruits are what hit the mouth first, plums, figs and raisins. Roasted malts follow quickly after and there is also an undertone of chocolate. Rather sweet and has a light texture. Finish is fruity. Rather enjoyable – pretty tasty for its strength.
