We Consider this an extreme version of an American Pale Ale. It has a very up front floral and citrus aroma from a late cascade addition and dry hopping with Amarillo. This beer also has a big malt background to balance the bitterness of the hops. The rye malt cleans up your palette after you swallow so the hop flavor does not stick in your mouth too long.

on tap, pours hazy dense gold with a medium off white head. Strong hop aroma with notes of hay and grass. Rich rye and pale malt body, again some grassyness but it’s more in the moderately bitter finish. Extremely refreshing and drinkable.

Golden color with a large creamy white head that settles slowly and leaves little lacing. Not much aroma, maybe just some white pepper, but very subtle. Not long on taste either, and very thin body, almost watery. Very close to a drain pour.

12 oz. bottle, trade with Daknole. Light amber color, swirling bubbles lead to a rocky light head. Spicy smell that’s part hops and part rye. Bottle is best by 8/5/09, so hops may have started to fade. Sharp APA hop flavor, not a citrusy cascade/amarillo bomb, but more of a well-hopped Pils. Again, spicy accents added by rye. Hops become more assertive toward the end, in fact, the foam at the end is quite hoppy. Even though this bottle indicates it’s contracted to Flying Dog, this is a style that could become a nice Southern style beer.

18th August 2008. Clear amber beer. Dry with a good hop level but not overpowering. Fresh and refreshing, Bitterish finish.

355ml bottle bought at the USA bar at GBBF 09. Cool label design. Amber-golden body. Decent, white head. Smell of wet forest with hints of dark berries. Succulent fruits and berries in flavour followed by grainy malts and ending with a dry, hop bitterness. Rounded and smooth textured. Pleasant and a bit unusual (Earls Court, hotel room 07.08.2009).

Bottle from Bellingers nr Wantage, Oxfordshire. Amber coloured pour with average white head. Slight hop aroma. Fruity, slight hop, a little bitter, perfumey. Not too brilliant to be honest. This bottle was close to use by date.

Bottle from Wine Warehouse, Charlottesville ($1.70). Golden amber with a small off-white head, Smells of grasses and sour grapes. Tastes of lemon peel, grass, ash, dirt, and orange. Interesting.

Tap at Trappeze Pub, Athens GA pours golden/ornage, white head. aroma of rye, malts and hops with some nice floral hints. taste, rye, floral hops, light fruits. Malty with a rye/caramel finish and hints of hops. Mouthfeel is thick.
