Bottle shared by Savvy1982 at the 2010 RBSG Grand Tasting. Poured a very cloudy amber gold with a light brown head that lasted. Aroma was very funky with barnyard and menthol coming out. There was some nice underlying floral and sour fruit notes as well. Flavor was funky with dry tart apples the main note with some funk underlying.

750 ml capped and corked bottle. 2004 Vintage courtesy of bvc (by way of Bottleworks in Seattle). Pour is a hazy golden orange yellow with a bright white two inch head. Heads falls somewhat quickly with nice lacing. Aroma of wheat, grain, lemon citrus and bright coriander. Soft and alive, this actually smells pretty fresh. Taste is mostly about dry coriander and white pepper. The wheat and grain is present as well, though more towards the back and very dry and dusty. The citrus and coriander is also present, though tasting more of vegetables than the soft sweetness from the nose. The vegetal notes really take over in the back, along with strong white pepper. There is also the yeastiness, which is similar to most Fantomes I have tried. Palate is thin to medium, quite dry with a quick finish. Overall, this was a unique, tasty and original Saison. 75 cL bottle, thanks to Dr Bill. Pours hazy orange with a lacing white head. Apple fruity and mild spiced aroma. Smooth and yeasty flavour. Mild orange note. Lingering fruity finish. Nice and smooth.7-4-7-4-15=3.7

From bottle, blind #13, courtesy of thewolf. Pours almost clear and golden yellow with a small white head. Spiced and slight wheaty aroma. Ginger like. Sweet and light malt flavoured with a dry ginger note. Mild spiced and dry acidic flavoured finish.7-3-8-3-16=3.7

This beers pours a dark amber color, jelly looking because there are small particles suspended in the beer and the small head faded quickly. The first sign that this is a different type of Fantôme, since usually the head is vigorous with visible carbonation. Aroma is a light floral-funkiness with some citrus-sweetness behind that. All of this is just wrapped in a slightly sweet apple maltiness. Taste is very subdued for Fantôme, light dry yet sweet herbal/grassy maltiness. It’s very nice and simple and works very well for the beer. An easy drinking light medium body. Again, so simple and light for Fantôme. Seems like a rather fresh bottle, no dating on this bottle but seems like a fresh beer. The dregs are ridiculous on this beer, looks really unappetizing (but I will drink it anyway). Gives the flavor a bit of a cider-y aspect.

750ml bottle. Interesting funky, dusty character adds interest to this saison. Cloudy yellow/gold pour with a short white head. The aroma is spicy and sweet with funky overtones of dust and cobwebs. Notes of caramel and apple. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Moderate acidity. Medium body and slight sticky. Moderate carbonation. Dry finish. Some peppery zing from the alcohol.

Pour is a hazy yellow with a big white head. Aroma is musty, some of that barnyard thing going on here, Flavor is outstanding. Big yeast in the flavor with some spice, banana and a dusty/musty aftertaste. Finish is very dry and smooth. An excellent example of one of my fav styles.
