Bottle, from trade with Bryne. It pours a clear chestnut colored body and a small, firm, light beige head. The aroma has quite a lot of meaty smokyness, along with some bread, dark dried fruit and a touch of grass. It's medium bodied and nicely carbonated, quite dry, with a decent bitterness. Smoked, cured meat, some toffee and bread, dark dried fruit and hints of grass and red berries in the flavor. Quite lasting finish. Yet another delicious smoked beer from Schlenkerla. 241222

50 cl. bottle poured into a dimpled mug. Clear amber colour with a medium-sized off-white head. Sweet aroma with smoked salami, caramel malts, red fruits, and herbal hoppy notes. The taste is light sweet. Medium body. Drying smoked fruity finish. Very nice. The cherry wood gives a sweeter, more rounded flavour.

(Draught at Man in the Moon, Stockholm, 27 Sep 2024) Ruby red colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, slightly smoky nose with caramel, dark bread, red fruit and dark cherries. Malty, slightly smoky taste with notes of caramel, chocolate, dark fruit, bread and a mild herbal bitterness. Medium body, with a touch of sweetness. Well balanced, harmonious and tasty, with a gentle smoke touch. Very nice.

Auburn with a frothy head. Woodsmoke aroma. Toasted grain. Berries, faintly. Taste is toasted bitter with a long, smoky finish and a touch of fruitiness. Rich caramel sweetness underneath. Light and yet surprisingly assertive, mildly oily, mild carbonation. Comes together nicely. Good!

I was very pleased to find this for sale. Nose is savory, meaty, cheese, lots of smoke, bonfires, the faintest vanilla. Taste is smoke, cheese, a gentle fruitiness, lots more smoke, malty, hint of caramel, floral, vanilla, a medicinal bitter note with a the faintest hint of grapefruit in the finish. Silky body that might be a touch thin. A lovely colour.
