Big brown head. Deep dark red body, barely translucent. Thin, sooty chocolate aroma with burnt notes and touches of pine and vanilla. Taste is thin, burnt chocolate with dry pine aftertaste. Quite good. (0.5l bottle.)

A deep dark stout with burgundy notes, and a thick lacing moka head. The aroma is light chocolate with coffee, no ash here. In mouth, a nice light stout, with nice roasted malt bitterness developping in mid tongue, but finishing rather quickly, more coffee-like. A quaffable stout, sent to me by HogtownHarry, in the spring. Still fresh tasting.

Bottle: Very dark amber coloured with nearly unvisible ruby sparks, tanned rocky head; roast malty, coffeeish nose with a metallic tinge and burnt caramel; mainly dry bitter flavour, supported by a little sweetness; slightly sourish, dry, bitter coffeeish finish, almost with hints of smoke. A quite light bodied, satifying Stout..............

(Cask at GBBF, London, 2 Aug) Colour is dark brown, almost black, with off-white foamy head. Nose is roasted with notes of chocolate, coffee (with milk?) and fresh coffee beans. Taste is roasted with chocolate, coffee, cocoa. Some milky character as well. Balanced bitterness in the mainly malty finish. Very drinkable and nice.

Cask gravity at The George, Bethersden, Summer BF 2006. Deep ruby/black beer with thin beige head. Attractive aroma of smokey chocolate and roasted malts. Smooth in mouth with creamy choc finish. Bit of dryness. Stunning stout. Even some sourness too.
