Depth Perception Imperial IPA begins with a series of complex malts far off in the distance. The use of three distinct bittering hops brings this beer more into focus, while the three varietals of dry hops get you an up-close-and-personal view of this three-dimensional IPA.

This is a very resinous IPA. Bitterness is pretty high but balanced by heavy malt. It doesn’t blow me away but it works well.

16 oz. can, from the grocery store. Pours a clear, orange color, with a fair, foamy, off-white head. The nose is pine sap, peach, wet grass, cloves, and basil. Sweet and malty, with a big, resinous bitterness. Medium body, sticky, and crisp. Boldly hoppy, clean, and quality.

Very clear, almost crystal amber coloured body with a very nice copper glow, all with a beautiful three centimetre tall tan head that sits atop for a long time, with a million bubbles rising slowly from the bottom. Aroma of pine, caramelised sugars, a touch of resin, honey and flowers, but the Pacific NorthWest and piney hops with associated alpha acid bitterness are by far the strongest in the nose. Medium-bodied; Very rich, piney, pungent, nutty and super bittered flavours show at first, from the hops of course, with a lot of malt depth, some alcohol noticeable, but a ton of metallic astringency noticeable as well but the pungency of the hops is still the strongest. Aftertaste is rich, pungent, grassy, super floral and quite bitter - all from the hops with the faintest bit of sweetness noticeable at the end - from the caramel, but this is a pretty classic, older, mid 2000s styled Imperial IPA. Overall, great to have if this is what you are expecting and can handle this - especially at over nineteen ounces! I'm not sure that I can handle this single can, and I lived through the mid 2000s Imperial IPAs - but those were only in twelve ounce bottles! Nice to sample this one and a great price, but crazy to have a huge can like this with such a potent beer! I sampled this 19,2 ounce tall can, purchased from Kroger [grocery] in Savannah (downtown), Georgia on 27-December-2022 for US$3,00 sampled at my house here in Washington on 05-February-2023.

Aromas are resin with a bit of citrus and wet grain. Flavors lean a bit sweet but enough bitter and carbonation to balance. Hops do seem on the old side. Finish goes bitter. Not bad overall.
