Bottle. Pours a deep reddish amber with a large (2 or 3 finger) head. aromas are a lovely mix of pine, pineapple and sweet, caramel malt. Flavor is a mix of the above with a somewhat dusty earthiness to it that caught me a little by surprise, but helps give this some distinction from all the other IIPA’s clamoring out there with their heavy hops and thick and sticky maltiness. I’d have to say that this combination works well... The malt and hops work well together and there is much more complexity than I find in most IIPA’s... I don’ tknow if it is coming from the yeast or what, but there is a nice peppery thing going on that helps blend the flavors together. I just wish this wasn’t so darned expensive.

Draught (Pikkulintu, Helsinki). Copper coloured with a small foamy head. Hoppy aroma with peach and a hint of chocolate. Pleasantly hoppy taste with some peach, grapefruit and toffee. Very nice and does not taste its strength.

Pours orangish copper with off white head. Aromas of hops, sweet malts and bread. Moderately sweet flavor with big hops balanced by big maltiness. Alcohol comes through slightly and gets more noticable as it warms. Nicely balanced DIPA. Medium to full body with average carbonation and an oily mouthfeel. A good, well balanced DIPA but expensive ($15).

Huge offwhite lasting head. Deep amber body. Intense oily hop aroma of citrus and passion fruit. Intense, almost violent, taste of toffeeish burnt almonds and citric passion fruit with minty notes. Some honey as well.. Literally bittersweet. Oily, sticky mouthfeel with considerable alcohol heat. Some chalkiness. Burnt orange aftertaste. Leaves sticky sugar on lips. Powerful, but still definitely drinkable. Complex, and, in some senses of the word, harmonic. (0.25l draft at Nørrebro Bryghus.)

(Draught at Pikkulintu on 2008-01-24) Clear and brown. Some head. Fruitiness from hops in nose. Likewise the hops dominate the taste, especially if the beer is cold. Quite heavy bodied, too. Sweetness from malts balances the hoppiness.

Pours deep amber into a tulip. Pancake batter head leaves spot lacing as it recedes. Orange and resin aromas. Crisp with upfront sweet malt and a slight metallic hop burn in the finish. Flat cardboard as it warms.

Funky 20.3oz bottle. Pours a translucent glowing amber brown with a slightly creamy slightly tan head that lasted throughout the glass. Smells really good, pungent hop, pine, spice and flower aroma come first backed by a sticky sweetness of toffee and caramel with a lurking hint of biscuit. Taste is mostly citrus, lemons and grapefruits with some cracker and candy at the back. Lasting bitterness hides the alcohol, also very sticky in the mouth. Very well done.

Bottle. Copper color with a light tan head. Piney, light citrus aroma. Piney, rich caramel, some grapefruit flavor. Fuller bodied. A bit too much malt. Pine, caramel, toasty malt linger with a bit of citrus. Nice.

Bottle: Pours a reddish amber with a medium beige head. Piney, citrus, and a little caramel right up front. Taste profile is more malty than hop oriented, features a nice caramel taste. Fruity, citrus, and hints of toffee. Kind of like a softer BW and very drinkable. Thanks Chad.
