A subtle red beer dominated by neither malt sweetness nor extreme hop. We want ‘balance’. Roast malts, whole English aroma hops and bottling with live yeast are the keys to refreshment and drinkability. Great with cheese.

Bottle from Sainsbury’s. Dark golden colour, creamy medium off-white head. Nose is slight caramel, bit of fruits. Flavour is malty, bready, caramel, bit of citrus. Medium carbonation. Slightly bitter finish.

Honey and lemongrass aroma. Shimmering orange with a thick lacy head. Mildew and overripe orange flavor. Drab and unexciting. Quite ordinary and not representative of the better beers the UK has to offer, or even this particular brewry.

500 ml bottle conditioned, from Voldby Købmandsgård, Denmark. ABV is 5.2%. Deep golden colour, large to moderate head, slightly off-white. Fairly nice aroma, malts, toffee, ripe fruits. The flavour is fairly dry, some malts, biscuits and a little fruit, moderate "dusty" English hops in the finish. Drinkable, but not exceptional in any way.

Bottle at John Bull, Aalborg. A slightly hazy golden beer with a small off-white head soon disappearing. The aroma has sugary, fruity malts and some hops, quite boring. Medium body, ok carbonation. The flavor is fruity with a malty touch. Decent bitterness. A beer that doesn’t impress but drinks easily. 101204

Bottle 500ml. @ home.Clear medium orange color with a average, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted - caramel, light to moderate hoppy, orange - citrus, leatherr notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20110205]
