On tap at Arrogant Sour Festival 2022. Hazy reddish orange with large white head. Funky, fruity, too much carbonation. But still very pleasant. Medium sourness.

0,15l from tap shared at Arrogant Sour Festival 2022. Amber cloudy color, small white head. Smells funky, Sulphur, spices, estragon. Nice smell. Full body, soft carbonation. Tastes of estragom, spices, funky, Sulphur, grassy, earthy, peppery. Finishes dry and medium sour with notes of spices, pepper and herbal notes. Bit weird, not the greatest balance but overall drinkable.

Draft @ Tilquin admin gathering, merci Pierre.

One of the new experimental fruit lambics by Tilquin, this time with jostaberries, a ‘man-made’ hybrid of gooseberries and blackcurrants (developed in the twenties in Germany I believe), resulting in a black gooseberry-shaped fruit I remember from my childhood, as my grandmother used to grow them. Pale lilac-tinged, mousy but loose and open head on a cloudy purplish wine red beer. Very musty aroma with an initial impression best described as dirty wood shavings from a hamster or guinea pig cage, dust, green bushes, grape skins and berry juice indeed but not very clear and in any case hardly (if at all) recognizable specifically as jostaberry. Dry, sour, astringent onset, soft carb, some berry fleshiness but mostly very wry berry skin, grass silage, moldy tree leaf and moist dust aspects, ending a tad vinegary, astringent and ‘dirty’. Acidic, very wry and with a weird ‘dirtiness’ in the nose, this was one of the weakest in the range for me, and in any case completely failed to evoke those actual jostaberries I remember from childhood. Not sure if this is due to the fruit as such, though, since several versions – admittedly not all of them though – with related fruit types did work a whole lot better…
