0,75 l bottle from a supermarket in Rethymno. Cloudy golden with an one finger white foamy head in the glass. Pale grainy aroma with caramel and some cookies. Taste is grainy, less caramel. Increasing bitter hop. Metallic hints. High carbonated.

W aromacie słodowość, delikatne nuty mineralne, w smaku biszkoptowe, delikatny miodowy posmak, goryczka niska, orzeźwiające. Mocno schłodzone w upalnej 🇬🇷, może gasić pragnienie.

Unfiltered pale lager from a brewery in Crete, generously offered by the owner of the Medusa restaurant in Agia Galini, cheers! Egg-white, medium thick, moussy, lightly lacing head, initially clear pure golden blonde robe, turning hazy and a bit ochre-tinged with sediment (looking a bit like a Hefeweizen). Aroma of bread crust, dried banana, clove, dried thyme, raw broad beans, dry sandwiches, grass and something oddly sweet cicely-like. Initially quite neutral in the mouth, very minerally due to high carbonation levels, with light touches of unripe banana and green pear here and there; smooth, bit ‘fluffy’ but somewhat thin mouthfeel, carried by a bready pale maltiness the breadiness of which is of course accentuated by the yeast. Remains dryish with only a touch of sweetishness in the background, grainy at its edges with a grassy and somewhat floral hop bitter note in the finish, mingled with ongoing graininess. Well, it is what it is: a pale lager or Pilsener with the yeast still inside, not unlike the unfiltered and unpasteurized ‘pils’ we had in Belgium fifty years ago, but stronger (clocking in at 6.5% ABV); I guess the general German term ‘Landbier’ could also be applied to this particular case, it stretched a bit. In any case better than the industrial macro-lagers mostly drunk in Agia Galini, that is for sure.
