To many, the festbiers of Bavaria are a liquid voyage to the tents of Oktoberfest. For Tucher, nestled in its home in northern Bavaria and out of reach of the festivals that overtake Munich’s fairgrounds each fall, the focus is on Fruhlingsfest and celebrating the end of the cold winter months. As such, this festbier is brewed as a fuller-bodied helles lager with a slightly louder presence of old world hops instead of a marzen and is available to festivals year-round!

16oz can. Oooh this one nails it. Rich malts, solid hop balance. Richer, more depth than most US examples of the style I try. Decoction or something. This is quite enjoyable, deeper malt tone than I anticipated.

Smooth, slightly bready malty and sweetish with some earthiness and grassy hay. Easy going.

Pour is a brassy gold with a large white head. Aroma is an ok cracker pils malt. Flavor is more clean cracker malt with a little herbal hop at the end. This was just kind of ok. The herbal hop ending was the best part.

Draught at Khyber Pass: pours gold with white head. Aroma is malty, light hoppiness. Taste is sugary. Lightly bitter. Ok.

Fruity and very…green? Some grainy sweetness mixed with apple and a firm floral bitterness. Eh.

500ml can from Brewers Haven. Clear golden pour, white foamy head. Musty, grainy aroma, sweet. Taste is malty, sweet with some light vegetal notes. Just a bit off, but it might be because it's the US version

Honey, barley malt, and hay aroma. Golden yellow with nice off-white head. Moderately sweet barley malt and mildly bitter hay flavor. Good body.

Currently checking to see if this is the right place for this, our data base is a little confusing since this brewer is said to be out of business. Its a big pounder green can, just like the one pictured here, that says Tucher Festbier Aus Bayern on the front. Date code is 211918. Got it for cheap, $1 off the mixed six sales rack. I hope it aint cheap because its years old, hehehehh. The Seller assured me its a somewhat fresh can. Pour is lite pale with a fading white head. Nose is typical cheap pale american lager. First big swig is a little more like a pils than a fest. As the session moves to the middel, it does start to replicate many of the characters of an old country oktoberfest beer. Yea, now I'm gettin the festive attitude, the pils bitterness starts to fade. Becoming more friendly as I near the bottom of the can. In the end, its just a pretty good Oktoberfest beer, and it wasn't bad overall. If it is old stock, aging didn't seem to make it nasty.
