Pours deep copper with a large lasting off-white head.Nose shows raisins, caramel, toffee, sorry, bready malt.Flavours include include more bready malt, sultanas, soft booze, very well hidden. A bit of spicy and earthy hops behind. Oxidised port-like notes behind, the faintest suggestion of Vegemite.

From a 375ml can on 30/4/2024. Pours a deep golden light amber with a small head. The nose is sweet and malty - caramel and toffee, brown sugar. Taste follows suit - again caramel, toffee and brown sugar, with dried and stewed fruit, Christmas pudding and citrus peel. Finsihes sharp and moderately bitter, with the sweet-bitter balance really hitting the sweet spot. The mouthfeel is syrupy and a touch oily, with softish to moderate carbonation. Presents like the big beer it is but is perhaps a touch too easy to down. An absoluitely cracking barley wine.

Can. I guess they really used the h2g2 cover. Clear deep copper with a coat of beige head that hangs on at the rim. Aroma of dried and some stewed fruit, strong bread, flowers, some pudding spices. Rich but not unduly sweet with firm bitterness. Dried fruit, strong bread, Seville orange peel. Alcohol edges up towards obvious. Layers of malt but not heavy and has character as well as weight.
