Bottled in 1998, tasted in 2003. Still a medium sized frothy head. Sherry and coffee aroma. Sherry flavor, with milk chocolate, caramel, Tia Maria liquor and cherry. Bitter finish, texture has become a bit watery. Still a decent beer, after those five years.

Well, since ticks are going to count, might as well update to a rating.. Had this a loooooong time ago, 1996. Quite a sweet dubbel, didn't particularly like this beer. Which is weird, considering I really liked Grimbergen Dubbel at the time.

Pretty aged sample Compact, but fluffy head, leaving some lace, and with a strange pistacchio shine; dark amber beer. Vanilla, spices, earth and very malt-sweet nose. Portwine, wood, and a glimpse of sourishness, all overflowed by a rather oppressive sweet liquorice flavour. Somehow I get pistacchio (no salt). Is it suggested by the colour of the head, or is there really something there? Caramel and cucumber (that sounds really British). Rather slick, but not very much body. Aftertaste leaves a lot of sweetness. Not really great - wasn’t great when young neither.

What i remember from this beer, is that it was a nice darker beer, in the 'proeftijd' series. It was specially brewed by the brewer, to his personal taste. And it was good!
