Pours nice and inky. No head. Looks like serious fucking business. Lots of chocolatey rich base, though the treatment is a bit headsy. Solid brown sugar, hazelnuts, a bit hot. Again, headsy bubblegum phenols. So a solid base with suboptimal treatment. 4 7 8 3 15. Enough goodness to work, not enough to excel. There’s coconut and vanilla but it comes in body that feels flabby, off.

Is this 1 or 7? Rich roasty, lots of barrel coming through, some vanilla and nice dark chocolate

12 oz. bottle, pours jet black like motor oil with a tiny, quickly-dissipating brown head. Nose is decadent, with intense vanilla beans and chocolate upfront, and the bourbon barrels further back. Flavour is no less intense, with rich, elegant vanilla beans dominating upfront, along with subtle some dark dried fruits, while everything is rounded out by a really nice oak character. Oily, sticky palate without being too heavy, abrasive or viscous, yet the complexity is impressive. Really nice vanilla bean character lingers. Excellent.

12oz @ Ryan's after kids' time. Appearance: pours like oil, almost black with a dark beige head. Aroma: lots of vanilla, some chocolate, sweetness, some berries, and American oak. Taste: along the same lines, moderately thick and sweet, nicely balanced vanilla. Overall: round and nicely balanced. Looking forward to trying their classics from the waxed bottles.

Poured from 12 fl oz bottle. Black with small beige head. Vanilla forward, mild wood and bourbon, simple but balanced. ABV hidden at 13.4%. Pretty good.

Bottle from Livonia Liquor. Pours a thick, dark black with a finger of brown head that lingers. Vanilla, dark roasted coffee, molasses and bourbon barrel aromas on the nose. Boozy on the palate with more vanilla, coffee and bourbon notes. Light smoked notes on the finish. Rich and full bodied. Great balanced BBA stout.
