I though I’d had almost all available beers in Nordhorn, but I found a well stocked Trink Gut Grtränkehalle bihind the defunct railway station in Nordhorn. I could only take a few away on my bicycle, , but there’s more to follow, no doubt. Caramel aroma. Bitter caramelly flavor with some vegetable and coffee notes. Rather thin with a bittersweet aftertaste.

Schon irgendwie in Ordnung. 9/8/8/7/8/8

Bottle (330ml): Amber coloured, very small foamy layer; sweet toasted malt, bitterness and slightly rotten vegetables in the nose; quite light bodied, faint bitter-sweet flavour; (artificial-)sweetish malty finish with a tinge of bitterness. Ooooh...... Ooops: The correct alcohol content is 4.9% !

(bottle, as Sauerländer 1899 Dunkel Clear and dark copper colour with a small foamy off-white head. Roastmalty aroma with caramelised sugar. The taste is also dominated by slight sweet roasted malts while this brew offers only a poor slightly bitter hoppy finish. Has anyone else noticed their “Dunkle Bierspezialtät”, available in 2000 with 5,3 % ABV (only in 25cl cans) ? As far as I can remember that one was way better …
