12 ounce bottle. Translucent cola brown color. Small creamy tan head. Subtle roasted malt nose hints at vanilla and coffee. Flavor follows nose with notes of cocoa and baked brown bread. Light bodied and unassuming.

Bottle market district. Simple porter aroma. Big and dark. Good co2. Decent flavor, not over the top in the vanilla attributes. Better than expected. Nicely done with the vanilla, not in yer face nor obsessive, thanks.

Fresh 12 oz. bottle gifted by Chalumeaux. Best Before Date: 2/15/17. Color is a pitch black with fast dying head. Aroma is mild vanilla, roasted malt, and mild ash.

The vanilla isn’t overdone. Weak roasted malt backbone with a hint of coffee with a sweet vanilla finish. Body is lean even for a porter, shows a sticky syrupy texture. In general it is pretty average.

Poured into a mug, the appearance was a dark brown close to black with some light ruddy burnt red hues at the edges of the glass. Two finger white foamy head starts and dissipates at a nice pace to leave some moderate lace.
The aroma centers around the sweet sticky vanilla sweetness yet allows a nice roasty robust coffee bean and rugged cocoa bean profile to blend nicely.
The flavor rounds out nicely to a really nice balance between the roast and the sweet vanilla. Gentle roasty aftertaste with a quick robust finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fair sessionability about it. Carbonation feels pretty good (somewhat low).
Overall, nicely done porter with that vanilla bean not necessarily captivating, but it’s there and just enough substantial for the colder months.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a medium sized foamy tan head that left good lacing. The aroma was roasty, woody and had a moderate vanilla note. The flavor was bitter and roasty with hints of wood, smoke and vanilla. Long roasty vanilla finish. Medium body. Ok.

Pours clear mahogany into a shaker. Vanilla aromas. Thin and dry with sharp vanilla and mild coffee upfront turning to sour mocha in the medium length finish.
