Tinted ruby-black, Cherry Stout gains its signature tartness from 100% Montmorency cherries grown in Michigan's Traverse City region.

Rather than doubling up on sweetness, this tart cherry varietal serves as a counterpoint to the warm, dark chocolate notes from the malt bill. Lightly hopped for balance, this stout is one of the cornerstones of our stout portfolio.

Bottle. Was very disappointed with this one. Dark amber-brown in color. Small amber head. Aroma was coffee and cherry. Taste was pretty bad. Cherry cough syrup and coffee. I believe if it had more chocolate and less coffee it would have been better.

incredibly dark pour, with a dark mocha head. Aroma of dark roasted almost burnt malts, and some sour cherries! I love that the cherries really come through on this beer! The cherries and their tartness really add a great depth to the thick robust, smokey malts. It finished with a big bold bitterness that really lingers. Great stuff!

Pours a dark, brown-black, with just a touch of red. Minimal head. Aroma is chocolate, cherry, caramel. Flavors follow, with some earthiness, some leather in the mix. Mouthfeel feels a bit thin perhaps. Not as sweet as I was expecting. Bottle from Total Wine in Coon Rapids.

Oomph. It's like one of those chocolate covered cherries in beer form.

Single from the dusty non-local singles shelf @Appalachian. Sometimes you dumpster dive & find something salvageable. BB: unlimited, PKG: 10/17/2022 Pint glass @home. Deep dark brown, pretending to be black pour. Dark & lush oatmeal head. Earthy, cooked veg, berry skin & soy sauce nose. Sooty & earthy stout, bittersweet chocolate, sharp & acidic cherry juice, ideas of Harry & David cherry confectionery coating, remnants of coffee, end soot. Thin, frothy, mellow abv, too acidic. Late to the party, but I just felt this didn't mesh.

Jet black with a decent light brown head. Chocolate and some toast. Cherry and light chocolate. Heavy on the cherry light on the toast and chocolate.

Bottle (10/9/19) pour from BevMax, Hamden. Appearance is opaque black with light sparkle at the edges of the glass, thin cap of ephemeral fizzy light brown head and no lacing. Aroma is roasted malt with mildest cherry. Taste is rich roasted malts with mild-to-moderate mix of sweet and tart cherry. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with thick texture, soft-to-average carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, a decent enough base stout with pretty pedestrian, and not terribly strong, cherry over the top but pretty nice mouthfeel. Not complex or very interesting. Many choices would be much better.
