12 fl oz bottle. Pours pitch black with a small tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, liqourice, light fruity and slight tarish. Mild cherry fruity and dark roasted malty. Light tarish. Lasting dark and fruity.

Bottle, 7.0%. Sweet papery aroma, hint of acidic fruit, cherry, I suppose. Black colour, seems muddy. Very small dark brown head. The flavour starts off roasted, turns nicely acidic from the cherries. There seems to be some nice coffee in there, as well. Good balance between stout and cherry.

I picked this up at Archer Liquors in Chicago, IL, enjoyed at home on a Friday night watching my older cat fight it out with our brand new kitten. It’s like the movie Step Brothers, right now they’re in the introduction / fancy sauce phase. As for the beer, this stuff is fantastic! Aroma is very interesting, it’s very similar to a Belgian sour which I’ve never sensed with a dark beer. Somewhat sweet, definitely fruity but rather tart. Appearance is pure black with a thin head. Taste is very tart for a stout, but for a Belgian sour it’s about right. Definite cherry presence, tart and sweet. It’s very interesting, not getting much other than the cherries which I guess is the intention, possibly a very faint backing of a dark, roasted malt but for the most part it’s cherries. If I were to do a blind taste test, I would guess that the color is a deep red and not black. Good interesting stuff.

Bottle. Pours a black color with a small off-white head. Has a roasted malty chocolate aroma with weak hints of cherry. Sweetish roasted malty chocolate and cherry flavor. Has a roasted malty chocolate finish with hints of cherry in the aftertaste.

On tap at MBGSF 2010. Aroma of cherry, coffee, chocolate, roasted malts. Cherry flavor is not really sweet, coffee, lots of burnt wood. Really woody. Looks nice, with a good tan head. In the end it just doesn’t really work for me.

Refrigerated bottle poured into a glass. Pours black with small medium brown (with a reddish hue) head. Pretty nice lacing, lightly carbonated, and nice thick mouthfeel. Aroma is light dark malt with a hint of cherry. Taste is lightly sweet dark malt and some cherry. The cherry meshes well with this stout. This is a good cherry stout. Age doesn’t seem to help this one.

Bottle thanks to secret Santa. Pours black with tan head. No retention. Nose is smoke, burnt cherry and roasted malts. Taste is mostly smoke, some charred cherry and lots of roasted malts. A little juicy at times.

12 oz. bottle at the Porter, Atlanta. Pours very dark with a thin, dark tan head that dissipated quickly. Smells distinctly of red wine. To quote my friend, it smells like a bottle of $2 merlot. The palate is rich, with slight carbonation and a silky finish. The taste follows the smell with a sharp cherry flavor which overpowers any other flavors. Finishes with a lingering taste of wine. Overall, an interesting beer.

Bottle 12.fl.oz.Clear dark black color with a average, frothy to creamy, fair lacing, fully diminishing, light brown head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, coconut, cherry, wood. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter, light berry - cherry acidic with a long duration, coconut. Body is medium to full, texture is creamy, carbonation is soft. [20100207]

bottle at home ... black thinist of tan lacing ... base note cherry and chocolate ... little cocnut in nose ... fizzy ... cola syrup ... lots of alcohol ... dark cherry ... little red wine .... almost bourbon .... some chocolate ... definite cherry linger followed by some bitterness
