At 50 EBU this IPA is far more bitter than one would normally expect at 6%, but we believe in serious hopping at Freeminer. Pale in colour, with hints of sunset browns in the colour betraying the splash of crystal malts, the single varietal dosing of premium Goldings cuts into the tour de force of serious Marris Otter malts at play with the taste buds. The prolonged dry hopping is very evident in the nose and finish.

Cloudy appearance, thin but lasting head. Hops, pepper and licorice in both aroma and flavor. Medium bodied, malty beer. Firm, hopbitter finish. Excellent!

Odd cedar nose with light babyfood and oatmeal hints. Opaque ochre with a few flakes, medium yellow head. Somewhat astringent for the style. It tastes of sour wood and apples with an obvious and intense wheat bread crust finish. Pesky alcohol seems to hang around like an unvited party guest. Strange beer and fabulously unique.

A dirty hazy amber with a thick off white head, overcarbonated, gusher, like OKBeer and Duffman’s (although I got mine in Reno, NV). Aroma is doughy, with tired herbal hops, developping citrussy notes in final. In mouth, a funky pinhey IPA, with light sweet maltyness, some burned toast, a bit too astringent. Medium bodied. Bought at the Booze Bors., August 2007. Sampled March 25, 2008.

Bottle. Light caramel and floral hop. Orange tinged gold color with a white head that filmed, leaving lace tatters. Medium bodied with mild, creamy, carbonation. The flavor is hop, with some light malt. It is a bitter IPA. The finish is dry, and it is bitter. It’s not all that simple. It is extremely good.

Bottle. I don’t know if I just had a mishandled beer or if the head is really that foamy, but even with my careful pouring into the bottle it was undrinkable for nearly 15 minutes while I tried to get the foam to dissipate. Slight citrus aroma, with a bitterness in the finish. Overall the beverage was not freshing.

Clear golden amber body with a huge rocky white head. Aroma of sour floral hops. Flavor of sour caramel and floral hops. This bottle was probably infected. After mixing in a bit of bud light, the sour taste was mellowed some, but I’m leaving my original rating. I can’t say it’s worth the price to buy another bottle to try again.

Light amber color. Light aroma, with some malt and hop. Good malty body, good structure, with a good bitterness. Finally a good IPA! (in my opinion)

An amber beer with a huge beige head. The aroma is very hoppy - going towards citrus and spices. The flavor is malty, bisquity, and quite hoppy, leading to a very dry bitter hoppy end - that is almost spicy.

Orange-amber; cream-coloured head, fast gone, rather well carbonated beer. Fruity, very vague hops, and quite some caramel in the nose. Caramel, liquorice, toasted finish. There’s hops, but remaining in the background, giving a bitterish flavour, but always subject to the roasted caramel. Medium bodie, slightly slick. Nowhere a bad beer, even if little hoppy for an IPA. But having just tasted their sensational Speculation, it suffers... Thanks for both, JeremyG.
