Tap at Gasthof Krone, Kinding, Germany: Dark brown coloured brew with orange glow. With an slightly spicy taste maybe due to rye the used.

Caramel and plums in the aroma. Full boedied. Milky, cheesy flavor with caramel and coffee. Nice and tasty beer, with some resemblance to a dunkel weizen.

Draft at Frauendorf. Clear amber brown color, tan head. Aroma of burnt caramel, light spice. Taste is sweet, malty with subtle spice. Not bad. A change of pace from the usual helles-dunkel-weizen trio anyway.

Typical German rye beer, the follow-up of the classic Thurn und Taxis Roggen. Equal, creamy, off-white, more or less stable head, dark burgundy colour, hazy. Full sweet malt aroma, caramel, apple, brown sugar, almond, chocolate, cinnamon, particular spiciness doubtlessly coming from the rye. Mellow, soft malt taste, bready, fruity, with a slight sourish rye touch especially in the finish, dryish, very refreshing. A very appetizing beer indeed, somewhat related to their Dunkelweizen.

50cl bottle. Pours a dark amber colour with a decent head. The nose is rich and sweet - toffee and nuts. The taste has more of the same praline thing. The palate is medium to full bodied with a rich tangy/creamy texture and a finish that could be cleaner. Overall, a good example of a style I’m not hugely into.

Bottled, apparently this, as notes say "Roggen, bottled, 5.3% at Diamond Beer stand, HBF 2007". Deep orange colour, slight hazy. Aroma is wheat, vegetables and some fruits. Flavour is fruits, herbs and some slight yeasty notes. Ends grassy.
