Barrel aged imperial stout aged in Woodford Rye & Westward Whiskey barrels

We have a lot in common with our friends at Reuben’s Brews in Seattle. They really like barrel-aged stouts. We really like barrel-aged stouts. And well… everyone knows the foundation of a long and happy union is a mutual love of barrel-aged stouts. SO…we proposed to Reuben’s. And guess what? They said yes. And the wedding? The wedding is right now. The wedding is a barrel-aged stout collaboration. It’s called Feed the Beast.

Reuben’s picked their favorite grains, we picked some oats, and we did a double mash, boosting the flavor profile and alcohol content with liquid malt extract. No adjuncts, no extraneous additions, just roasty, toasty malt, and heady barrel flavors. We fed the beast. And we’ll keep feeding it. Until death do us part.

Can from Tavour. Pours dark brn/blk with a slight dark tan head. Aroma of rye, chocolate, and somewhat burnt malt. Seems full in body. Flavor is the aroma plus heat and dark fruit notes. Not at all dry. Bitterness from burnt malt and heat. Maybe a touch of cherry. Rye is firm in the finish. Flavor is not harsh, and the taste is very good.

pitch black color. Nice rye, bourbon, vanilla oak, coffee and molasses in the nose. Full bodied, excellent barrel character on the palate. Semi sweet very heavy semi boozy, soft carbonation excellent depth. The barrel character goes for forever.

On tap at Pint Defiance, pours black with a medium brown head. Aroma is huge, with loads of bourbon barrels, chocolate fudge, big roast, and some earthiness. Flavour is no less massive, with a pretty divine bourbon barrel presence, vanilla, chocolate fudge and ample roasted malt to provide support. Huge bourbon and chocolate notes on the finish. A bit brutal and lacking elegance, but it's surely a tasty massive beer.

12oz can at share. Near black pour, small brown head settles out. Aroma focuses on the roast, barrel notes accent the base. taste is relatively simple in this era of adjunct stouts; chocolate, roasty, fruity, whiskey. Very ful and fulfilling.
