Malted barley is a vital part of the Scottish brewing tradition. We use three different varieties to create the deep colour and smooth nuttiness; each grain is milled right here in our brewery, giving us complete control over flavour and freshness.

Then we balance this rich brew with just the right amount of Challenger and Fugle hops.

Hops: Challenger, Fuggle, Pioneer
Malts: Pale Ale, Crystal, Roast

Sampled @ GBBF day 2. Clear amber color, small off-white head. Smell and taste heavy maltyness, caramel, leaves strongly, some bitterness. Average body and carbonation. Don’t like it.

Bottle from Drinkmonger. Clear deep red body with a thin off-white head. No visible carbonation. No lacing. Aroma of wet wood and red apple. Flavour of earth, red apple and slightly sour malts. Thin body with an oily texture. Soft fizz. A decent Bitter. As an aside, the new branding is excellent, and it was a good idea to simplify the names of the core range. (Well done Stand Design.)

Bottle a gift courtsey of Nic and Anna (former neighbours) cheers! Consumed at home Sunday 10th August 2014 Pours reddy/amber with a white head, good clarity. Fairly typical bitter, fruity, bit safe, mid bitterness. Nothing wrong with this, its fine but lacks a hoppiness or crispness to keep me interested to the end. A6 A4 T5 P3 Ov10 2.8

Clear red beer with a decent creamy head. Not much aroma. Flavour is light and fruity with a mellow malt aftertaste. Not bad but it’s quite refreshing for a red.
