Obscura is our baltic style porter brewed with debittered dark malts and hopped with fine European noble hops. A warmer fermentation starts in open tanks for one and a half weeks using a traditional lager yeast. Finally it is layered cold prior to packaging.

Reviewed from notes.
Can to snifter.
Appearance: dark brown close to black in color with a finger's worth of khaki foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: big milk chocolate notes; some dark chocolate, animal cracker-like sweetness; mixed dark fruits; subtle coffee sweetness and some roasted malts
Flavor: blends the previously mentioned aromas to a fine sweet to roasty and semi-bitter sort of quality; finishes dark fruity with milk chocolate and light coffee sweetness
Texture: medium bodied, leaning into being a sipper; a very nicely done smoothness rolling over the tongue
Overall: a very nicely done Baltic porter I would very much love to have again.

Pours black into a snifter. Mocha head with good retention recedes to skim surface. Sweet licorice and soy aromas. Medium bodied and dry with chocolate and espresso upfront turning astringent in the licorice finish.

Can from Bine & Vine. Pours clear dark brown with a slight tan head. Aroma of roasty/toasty malt with some grass notes. Med body, barely. Flavor of dark roasted malt with some grass notes. Gets a little creamy in body after awhile. Light mixed fruits in the background. Then something a little plummy. Started simple / ended complex.:)

Canned 10/27/21, drunk 1/7/22. Dark mahogany, undetermined clarity, with a dark beige head atop, small and showing moderate retention. Nose shows a touch of oxidation and maybe light DMS? (hint of bean). Chocolate and light roast with no hop, alcohol or much else. Very straightforward, but clean and to-style. In the mouth it's chocolate and roast. About as straightforward as it gets with no flaw or booze and no dms. Good and very well-executed, well-attenuated, if very unexciting.

Pours a pitch black, reddish, with a thick tan head. Aroma of earthy malt, nutty, toasted cocoa. Taste is milky, mildly nutty, some slight chocolate. Palate has more nuts, some roasted malt on the nose. Good.
