NULL EILE. Denn was lange gärt, wird richtig gut.

A terrible suspicion. Is this beer the same as St. Gothardus Spezial? I think so. I tested both beers at succesive days and they taste really the same. Like a bockbier, very drinkable. Good beer!

Test vom 28.11.2006, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 7,5,5,5,8,5 - 5,35

Bottled. Clear amber, small head. Aroma of bready malt. Sweet with medium body and rounded mouthfeel. Very light touch of caramel, but lacking severely in character. Solid, but very boring.

Pours a golden colour with some carbonation and a thick white head. A faintly sweet aroma, and a sweet malty taste. Fairly ordinary.

Bottle: Amber coloured, foamy white layer; very light malty aroma (hints of marzipan, hops, caramel); light bitter-sweet taste; some metallic notes in the shy bitter-sweet aftertaste; not really bad, but absolutely not refreshing; kind of bland and unharmonic.

Bottle. Flowery, citrus, CO2 aroma. Greyish copper colour. Unstable white head. Lagerlike flavour with unpleasant acidity. Close to a Danish "classic" pilsner.

(Bottle 50 cl) The "Urtyps" I’ve had before mostly were very straw-golden and rather bitter. On the other hand the Oettinger version is dark golden, rather light malt-character and some potent alcohol. The hops add more aroma than bitterness. A discount-beer of good quality. 161199
