A broad shouldered, brown 500 ml bottle acquired from Half Time some months ago. Well cooled off now and ready to tilt inside of a snifter on this unusually chilly, late April evening. I pour to see a brown-red body completed by a stupendous head of light tan foam. The smell is grain and earthy malts, not so exciting. A sip and then a real drink, pretty decent. I register a bit of caramel right away, whole grain bread, malt and cough syrup. A nice feel to this beer. Time was I was a fan of amber ales but that went away. A nice return tonight.

Capped 500 from Total Wine in Vacaville, CA. Pours clear darkish amber with a monstrous foamy tan head. Aroma of lightly roasty malt with some herb. Near med body. Flavor is lightly roasty malt or caramel with some earth, yeast/spice and maybe a touch of banana. Kind of Belgian. Nice flavor. Lacks the American red ale flavor profile. Good that.

Pours a medium amber color with a large light tan head. It smells of caramel malt and spicy yeast with a little banana. The flavor is of caramel malt, spicy yeast, and mild earthy hops. There’s a little alcohol noticeable but not as much as I expected. It finishes on the dry side. There’s a lively palate. It tastes like there’s Belgian yeast to me. The dry, spicy character balances a beer that could have easily been too sweet. This is excellent and in my opinion is underrated.

Bottle shared by Jeremy at the October 2023 PS tasting, 10/14/23. Dark hazy amber, medium tan head, average retention. Aroma of toasted malt and caramel. Dry. Taste is roast, raisin, caramel. Booze hidden well. Nice. New brewery! Brewery # 2251, Poland # 10.

Bottle from The Beer Store Nashua.Clear deep amber color, off white head. Aroma of burnt caramel and black pepper. Taste is boozy toasted caramel with a hefty bitter finish. Good body. Malt and booze bomb with a trong hop presence. Interesting.

Imperial amber has always struck me as an odd style, so I guess it’s fitting Komes version is an odd beer. Not as sweet as expected, with a moderate floral bitterness cutting through the cardboard and caramel notes. A little biscuit underneath, and a yeasty flourish hits the finish before transitioning into a soapy, copper-tinged fade. Strange pint.

50cl bottle pours with a hazy golden copper colored body that supports a full lasting light tan head of foam. The aroma offers up, malts, light crystal malts and then a firm level of spicy to woody hops. The taste delivers spiciness, likely a blend of spicy hops and some sort of woodiness that leads into a blend of various sweetness. The sweetness comes from some sweet dark fruity plum and fig like esters as well as malts and some sweeter crystal malts. The booze kicks in about midway to help dry out the residual sweetness. Decent.
