Our first grape ale with Viognier skins! Viognier is a lighter/aromatic white varietal that makes some pretty wines. A lot of people are using viognier in orange wine blends. It’s like a relaxed chardonnay.

375ml bottle. Pours a hazy beige with a thin, fizzy, short lived, white head that leaves spotty lacing. Acidic aroma of pale malt, white wine, vinegar, funky yeast, hay, oak and floral hops. Sweet fruity flavour of pale malt, green grape skins, pear, green apple, honeydew melon, lemon, funky yeast, oak and floral hops in a dry, sour, acidic finish. Medium body with an oily texture and lively carbonation. Lots of complexity and surprisingly quite quaffable.

Hazy beige, with a tiny white head. Very acidic white grape. Pear, dandelion, fresh cut grass. Hints of funk, wet hay, chardonnay, light wood, and some nutmeg. Bright mouth feel, very acidic, vinous, light vinegar, sharp, dry reisling finish.

Cloudy, pale blond colour. Sour aroma, bit of lemon, metal. It's very juicy, the acidity is moderate, and there is a strong, and very nice, fruity component; bit of funk too, maybe grapes skins.
Very good.

375ml bought from Jonny @ Alex's. Appearance: hazy blonde with a white head. Aroma: funky, grapes, some tannins and grape skins. Taste: along the same lines, very grapes forward, some funk, a bit sharp acidity. Some lacto in the finish. Overall: very nice.

Pale and greenish, with no head. Big vinous nose, hint of alcohol, unsurprising given the strength of the beer. Soft beautiful grape character, this comes together really well with mellow pale malts.

375mL bottle, pours a cloudy blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of white wine grape must, rustic saison yeast, and oak. Flavour is very white wine musty, with rustic saison yeast, oak, white wine, and tons of champagne yeast. Highly carbonated, with lots of champagne-like effervescence, white wine barrels, and oak. Lovely stuff.

(375ml bottle from the brewery) Pours lightly hazy pale yellow with a decent white head. Aroma is bright tart white grape with some pear, lychee, soft stone fruit, peppery florals, fresh grass, some wood, smooth leathery brett with wet hay, a little spicebox, good expression of Gewürz as you would expect from the 49% and Viognier is softer. Flavour is fairly dry and very wine-forward (it is half wine...), nice fruity and slightly spicy qualities of pear, lychee, soft peach, peppery florals, soft spicebox, wet hay and leather, light lactic and acetic acid for brightness, soft woody drydown, finish is peppery, phenolic, fairly dry and lightly tart, some wood, alcohol not totally masked. Light to medium bodied, oily, active carbonation. Nice white wine-dominated wild ale, as you'd expect it feels like a short-contact orange wine with a heavier funk component.
