Bottle at home. Opaque jet black color, average sized light brown colored head. Aroma and flavor are malts, coffee, espresso, soft roast, moderately bitter. Body is medium, carbonation is average, mouthfeel is quite smooth. Awesome beer. I love this one.

2022 bottle drunk 9/1/23. Dark with a small, light-tan head, low retention. More booze than in other versions, or maybe it's just too much roasted coffee? Whatever the case it's a bit sharp, though softened by rich chocolate/cacao character. Whiskey fairly muted here. Very soft, with heavy coffee, light alcohol/whiskey character (not sure which). Softer, syrupier, sweeter body because of the maple syrup, I assume. A bit much as the base beer is already chocolatey and I don't think sweet, syrupy maple is really needed. These do dry out extensively with age so maybe better in another year? It's not horribly sweet or anything, but the sweetest of the 5 or 6 or so I've tried from them. Not sure why the nose of this one smells so sharp/boozey.

22 oz. bottle, pours jet black with a small beige head. Aroma is loaded with bourbon barrels, intense coffee, maple syrup, and a touch of cocoa. Flavour is rich, with lots of coffee and maple syrup upfront, accentuated by the barrels and a hint of salt. Syrupy but not too cloying or viscous, with a nice coffee- and barrel-centric finish. Excellent.
