This crystal clear chestnut coloured beer is crowned with a tight, fine, stable brown foam and affords aromas of roasted malt, chocolate and summer honey to entice your senses. The full-bodied taste is spicy and combines roasted malt, bitter almond, bitter chocolate and coffee flavours with a soft touch of wood and liquorice. The aftertaste is persistent with an integrated bitterness. Notes of espresso, chocolate and caramel linger on the tongue.

Think that I picked this bottle up from Getrenmarkt, Garmisch, Bavaria, Germany, consumed at home Sunday 28th July 2012 Pours ruby reddy coloured edging toward brown with an off-white head. Thick in the pour and in the mouth, toffee, caramel, smooth, sweet and big alcohol kick, this is the sort of German beer that Craig would totally approve of, it’s right uo his street. Bottle @ Bayern. Pours dark brown with a creamy head and lacings. Nose is dark fruit, caramel and bread. Warmth from alcohol and a bit of tongue prickling. Smooth and full bodied. Heavy - without a question. Sippable.

Bottle shared with Elena, ever so discreetly, at the Vienna airport. Pours clear, copper-caramel with a fluffy, foamy off-white head. Rich toasty, bready caramel malt aroma. Strong and sweet flavor with lots of caramel, light toast, bread, some booze, slight leafy bitterness. Full bodied with fine, creamy carbonation. Warming finish with some boozy sting, caramel, slight dry and toasted malts, slight herbal and leafy bitterness. A heavy-duty beer overall. Very sweet but the alcohol definitely pokes through. Decent.

Bottle. Sweet prune malt and bitter/astringent aroma. Clear reddish-dark brown color with small head. Sweet raisin malt and bitter/astringent orange peel flavor. Nice solid doppelbock.

500ml Bottle - Dark brown in colour. Malty and fruity aroma with raisins and vinous fruits. Fruity, grainy and malty taste with dried fruit and toffee, followed by a roasted malt finish.

Thanks Jonas! Nicely hazy reddish-brown. Pleasingly rich malt nose with a toffee accent and just a hint of dark fruits. Very rich, decadent bock. Toffeeish, dark sugars and subtle fruit accents. Very smooth. A compelling bock.

Bottled@random beerplace in Bamberg. Reddish amber colour with small beige head. Aroma is malts, alcohol and some mild earthy and bready notes. Flavour is quite earthy and some bready malty notes as well. Alcohol gives a certain burn as well. Feels like this one had passed it’s prime a bit (didn’t see the BBE on the bottle though).

Bottle: Poured a dark brown with a froathy tan color head. Aroma is malty and slightly chocolate. Taste is sweet caramel/chocolate mess. Finish is dry and dark chocolate.
