Tap. Clear golden color, good white foam. Sweet aroma, malt, light spice of hops. Taste: malt, sweetish, light bitterness, full body, very drinkable = золотое, прозрачное, хорошая белая пена, аромат сладкий, солод, лёгкая пряность хмеля, вкус солодовый и тоже сладковатый, легкая горечь, полнотело, очень питко, но не слишком ярко.

Aroma is toasted bread and caramel mixed with Eurolager skunkiness. Ugly pour, coming out a decent orange-gold but giving up a fizzy, brief head with no lace. Taste is better than the nose, full of rich caramel sweetness, buttered biscuits, and mild apple esters, but the skunky floral bitterness on the back end reeks of bad green-bottled German beer, leaving a vegetal aftertaste that clashes with the sweetness on the front. Good feel, lively but creamy. Still a little too old-school European Oktoberfest for my tastes.

Draft at Porvoon Paahtimo, Porvoo. Thought I had the wrong beer at first, as I wouldn’t call it amber. More like light gold. Clear with visible carbonation. Grainy malty smell not dissimilar to a macro lager, but it’s fresher. Sweet taste with a suggestion of candied orange peel. Long sweet finish. Yest and vanilla notes in the aftertaste. Not too bad but not the best Oktoberfest beer I’ve had. Just that little bit too cloying.

Tap at MacGregors. Deep amber, clear, medium head. Malty nose, light caramel, just a bit of hop, grassy and a touch of citrus. Sweet, rich malt, less caramel than the color would suggest, but enough. Rather straightforward. Low hop, but rich and tasty.
