Interessanter Malzantrunk mit leichter Süße, in dem röstige Aromen hintergründig präsent sind und sich ab und an auch im Vordergrund blicken lassen. Leider fehlen ab dem Mittelteil neue Intentionen, daher ist der Abgang ziemlich langgezogen und zum Ende ziemlich mild, zudem etwas trocken. Die angenehmen Rauchnoten sind weiter vorhanden. 10/11/11/11//11

Draught @ Gasthof by Wolfshöher Privatbrauerei, Zur Wolfshöhe 3, Neunkirchen am Sand, 91233 Mittelfranken/Bayern, Germany.Unclear medium to dark brown color with a average, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, soil turned malt, smoke - rubber. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20090522]

Muddy chestnut. Spicy hop nose with chocolate and breadcrust malts. This has a fairly juicy character. Balances the nice hop character with subtle dark malt notes like chocolate and breadcrust. Complex, balanced.

Bügelverschlußflasche: Amber coloured, small, creamy, lacy off-white head; sweet-malt, toasted malt, smoked malt and hops in the aroma; solid sweet-bitter flavoue, medium bodied; lingering swee-bitter finish with a good touch of smoke and a tinge of wort in the aftertaste. Classy stuff..........

(swing top bottle) Slightly hazy, mahogany colour with a big and slowly lacing beige foamy head. Earthy, sweet toast-malty aroma with caramel, dried prunes and smokey notes far in the background. Sweet flavour, medium to light bodied with a moderate carbonation. Toasty and slightly burnt malty taste with caramel and vague notes of dark cacao and a whiff of smoke towards the finish. Quaffable and delicately smoked Dunkel (06.07.08).

bottle, bought at the brewery. Labelled "rauchzartes Dunkles", brewed with malt and smoked malt. Nose: smoked malt and malt. Malty flavour, slightly hoppy towards the finish. Flavours of roasted malt, caramel and smoked malt. This beer has a clear smokey character.

(On tap) Hazy brown beer with an orange hue and a beige head. Lightly coffeeish aroma. Medium body that starts on a roasted note to be relieved by a burned edge - not really typical German. Dry but not overly bitter finish. 131106
