A rich full flavoured, strong stout with a roast coffee aroma. The dominant roast character is balanced by a warming sweetness and a raisiny, fruit-cake taste which lingers on into the long aftertaste, making this a very satisfying drink.

Lovely sweet salmiac and licorice aroma. Deep dark brown color. Some hopbitterness, strong licorice flavor. Earthy with just a hint of blackcurrant. Sweetish, light to medium bodied. Slight bitter licorice and coffee aftertaste. Lovely, warming ale.

Bottle. Booth’s, Kendal. Clear, dark ruby red. Skim and a few bubbles of beige head. Nose has soft smoke. Bit of gravy. Cake mix. Vine fruit. Taste has a soft, smoky sweetness. Touch of vinous twang. Light to medium body. Brisk carbonation. Light dry finish. Ok. A bit watery overall.

Cask at 37th Fleetwood Beer & Cider Festival. Shared with Finn. Jet black in the glass, beige bubbly head, dotted spots on the glass. Dried fruity nose, hints of raisin. Mixed taste of chocolate malts and dried fruits. Ends semi sweet and slightly roasted. Fine depth to it. Pretty nice. (07.02.2019).

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - close to opaque black with some red/orange chinks. Nose - toffee and roasted stuff going on. Some tangy berries. Taste - burnt toffee, light chocolate. dry hazelnuts. Palate - medium bodied with a tangy yet crunchy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - I like this.
