Pasteurised Version of McEwans 80/-
When William McEwan founded his brewery at Fountainbridge in Edinburgh in 1856, this 80/- (‘eighty shilling’) was one of the first beers he produced. It was the beer of choice for McEwan’s brewery workers and at one time the local pub sold almost nothing else! Its classic full flavour is still much loved at home and abroad.
This traditional Scottish premium ale is also known as ‘Heavy’ and when it comes to taste it certainly packs a powerful punch.

From tap at Ben Nevis. Pours clear and golden orange to brown with a small creamy and off white head, leaving a thick creamy lacing on the glass. Aroma is dark roasted malty and breadish. Bitter, slight hops metallic and dark malty flavoured. Flat malty and slight bitter finish.

From the keg in a pub on the Royal Mile in Edinburgh. Medium brown / amber color. Rich, malty aroma. Good rich flavor with caramel. Roasted flavor adds dryness as well. Decent hops at the finish make it very dry. Good stuff.

KEG at andersons ... Purly a tick as they had nothing worth drinking. BUT 1.85 a pint turned into 1.05 for a 1/2 !!!!... Utter crap... need i say more... ok ... crisp amber so it looked ok ... medium white head ... no nose at all !!! ... odd metalic artificial metalic hop ness... NO malt character ... just so 1d... Why Keg is so poor compaired to Cask...

(Bottle 50 cl) Beautiful copper coloured with a small head. Soft and very malty - roasted malt and sweet caramel. Low in both CO2 and bitterness. Highly drinkable. 020201
