What an incredible day we had celebrating our doggy pals and now the beer is ready, an über-refreshing Kölsch-style beer!

Brewed using a base of Pils malt with hop additions from Magnum, Perle and Zuchstamm for a hit of citrus flavours and aroma. Gentle notes of freshly cut grass lead to a crisp bitter finish, giving an edge to our version of this traditional lager/ale hybrid, native to Cologne.

On tap at Nelson Arms Tonbridge. Clear pale gold colour thin white head. Supposed to be a kolsch. Well it's not a bad interpretation I mean it's not quite Koln. But it's a ale yeast and the lagering is pretty decent. One of the better UK kolsch I've had. OK

440ml can. Pours pale gold with a medium head. Aroma is sweet and grassy, with a little bread and minerals. Taste is sweet and grassy with some minerals and jelly on the finish.

On tap at The Green Goddess, Blackheath Royal Standard. Clear golden pour with a white head. Nice spiced fruit nose, spot of sweet citrus. Taste is similar, whack of apricot jam, quite an underlying sweetness. Spicy sweet fruity finish. Excellent interpretation of the style.

30/3/2024. Can shared with ITFCDan. From Stanford Arms, Lowestoft. Pours clear bright pale golden with a small frothy white head. Certainly looked the part. Aroma is citrus, malt, grains, flowers, slight caramel and nutty stewy edge. Medium sweetness and moderate bitterness, just a touch metallic. Moderate body, light creamy mouthfeel, average carbonation. Quite likeable.
