As a brewery, literally on the border of the Netherlands and Belgium, with an originally Dutch brewer at the stirring stick, there is no escaping it, to participate in the annual bock beer craze in the Netherlands. A wheat bock was chosen, with European and some American hops. That along with a handful of blackberries, makes for a fruity, slightly sweet bock.

Moet zeggen het was even geleden dat ik weer een bier van ‘de Dochter’ voor mijn heb staan; maar kan niet zeggen dat ik blown away ben van de smaak, bitter, dun, slap, waterig,prefereer toch iets met meer ‘mouthfeel’

Clear mahogany brown colour with lasting lacy head. Sweet malts. Slightly smokey, leathery. Raisins.

Roodbruin bier met weinig schuim. Smaak is bitterzoet met duidelijk wat rook, hout en een beetje karamel.

330ml bottle. Slightly cloudy, redd-ish, dark amber colour with average, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, dark sulphureous head. Smoky, woody, slightly caramel malty aroma, hints of smoked wheat, smoked oak, a touch of dark caramel, wood ashes, whiffs of clove. Taste is smoky, wheaty malty, slightly woody, hints of smoked wheat, smoked oak, a touch of wood ashes, dark caramel, burnt caramel, old vanilla, overripe banana, clove, mild hop bitterness. Watery texture, minimally dry palate, medium, mildly prickly carbonation. Surprisingly smoky, not that much yeasty action going on here - not what I expected, nevertheless pretty good.
