This beer, produced in the classic English Barley Wine style, has a dark copper color. Aromas of red fruit in alcohol, cocoa, caramel and a subtle roasted vein. In the mouth it is warm and enveloping, soft and refined but at the same time balanced with a fairly dry finish.

Pours a hazy dark amber color with small head and gentle carbonation. The aroma of malt is mild. Full bodied; good malt and caramel flavor, sweet without excess, and correctly balanced by a nice bitterness and some alcohol warmth; it also has a nice fruity side from the fermentation, and some oranges from the hops.
Very nice one; drink fresh, I don’t think it’s suitable for aging.

Bottle 50 cl. Reddish amber with no head - the beer is completely flat. The nose is first and foremost boozy, but underlying complexities do come forward if you give the beer time. Dark warm sugars and dried fruit. Body is rich and equally complex, a lot of oxidation - may remind more of a Sherry to some if it wasn’t for the tiny amount of late hops. I actually dig this, and in a beer like this I can live with the lack of carbonation. 150816

Due to artificial coloured illumination, appearance not estimable, arbitrary 4/5 Old, old wine barriques, something forgotten in a bodega - ’vinous’ doesn’t come close. Sweet wine, wood, bit of chocolate, portwine or Malaga. Sample is a bit tired, quite slick, (yeast)laden. Since the sample isn’t 100% any longer, it makes the beer even more impressive. Grand merci à Sébastien!
