With an enticing French roast coffee aroma, rich and nutty 70% cacao chocolate bar comes to mind when sipping this smooth black lager. Midnight Silk isn’t flashy, but isn’t understated either. This is a beer drinker’s beer meant for long drinking sessions filled with good conversation or quiet contemplation.

16oz can from Tavour. Near black pour, tan foamy head fades fast. Light roasty aroma, coffee-ish. Taste is roasty and mildly bitter, hint of chocolate, with some dryness at the finish.

Can from Tavour. Pours black with a large foamy tan head. Aroma is somewhat chocolate. Med body. Flavor is dark malt with a dab of chocolate. Floral hop. Surprisingly towards dry, and nicely bitter with some Noble notes. A bit prickly/tingly. Very nice flavor.

16 ounce can. Pours a pitch black hue with a large beige head. A big milky chocolate nose. Sweet, huge chocolate, light roast, man this holds up. At 5% you'd think not, but it does. Rich, sweet, smooth.

On tap at CHoP. Aroma is malt forward and chocolatey with light roast and toast notes. Pours black with a small, thick, creamy tan film that recedes to a small film that lingers. Medium lacing and no legs. Flavor is moderately sweet with chocolate and lighter roast and toast notes. Hints of honey, biscuit and caramel. Some lactose like sweetness is present as well, but it may just be the malt. Medium light bitterness and faint hop notes. Mouthfeel is light bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a really nice beer. Solid malt notes and a clean fermentation profile. Really enjoyable.

Lots of roast and smoke. Very nice schwarzbier. Pours black with good head and lacing. Light tobacco. Ashtray type finish but in a sexy way like the mom from Married with Children.
