Smooth, sweetness, slight rye spice note

33cl bottle from Abeervinum, Rimini, Italy. Pours almost black, with no foam. Aroma is of chocolate, molasses, dry figs. Body partially dense, with fine carbonation. Taste is a nice combination of sweetness and roastiness, the former being a little more evident. Final is average, a little disappointing compared to the rest.

Bottled@Littlepub, Vaasa. Close to black colour with a small beigeish brown head. Aroma is chocolate, some alcohol, mild ripe fruits as well as some cocoa. Flavour is chocolate, cocoa, some alcohol, ripe fruits and mild toffee tones. Quite easygoing, and even a bit thin as for the palate.

Base beer fantastic. Some dark cherry and slightly staled time out there. Bier komig ams 3.6

Smell- weak to medium, malt, caramel, faint chocolate. Foam- thin, malt, raspberry-ish notes, sweetness. Head is small, dark brown in color, and disappears fast. Appearance- brewer bottle cap, red, simple label. Very dark brown color, no carbonation, but basically black. From - stout glass Taste - sweet, malt, caramel, weak chocolate, alcohol is hidden but creeps up for sure. Not bad overall, but kind o uninspiring in general. Weak sourness notes also. Bit later feels boozy. But still fine overall.

Creamy lightbrown good mostly lasting head. Black colour. Moderate malty and hoppy aroma. Heavy bitter flavor. Long heavy bitter nice finish,. Creamy palate.

Gluten-reduced (apparently not entirely gluten-free) imperial stout by Põhjala; bottle at Barboteur in Schaarbeek. Yellowish beige, moussy, breaking head on a jet black beer. Aroma of soy sauce, marmite, bitter chocolate, burnt tree branches, black coffee, old liquorish, wholegrain bread, bayleaf, cigar ashes, dried prunes, charred toast, gin. Dryish onset, strong umami (black olive) with some dried prune sweetness, softish carb, full and thickly oily mouthfeel; walnutty, hard-caramelly, toasty core with lingering beef stock-like umami on top, meeting with a herbal tea-like hop bitter aspect, blending with coffee-like roasted bitterness which remains altogether mild. Spicy rye and grainy buckwheat are both distinguishable. The malts ‘buffer’ what would have otherwise been a considerable gin-like booziness. Syrupy, thick, even sticky stout, in all, not too sweet but a bit too umami-forward for me; not bad, in all, but certainly not Põhjala’s best – not even in the top layer of their output, in my opinion.
