Cask at Bird in Hand, Stafford. Pours dark burgundy with a small cream head. There’s cherries and biscuits in the aroma. In the mouth it is sweet and juicy, though some sharpness creeps in after a while. Flavour is predominantly black cherries, though with some roasted malts and hints of coffee and underlying caramel. Finish is fruity and slightly dry. This is a decent flavoured porter.

Hand-pulled half pint (twice) at The Crown Inn, Oakengates on 30th April 2022 during a beer festival. Jet black body, tanned topping. Smooth and fairly rich body with a subtle black cherry aroma and flavour, nicely done, mini-smokiness in there too.
