Brewed with Tomahawk and Simcoe hops. Viven Imperial IPA came from the westcoast of America but is brewed in Flemish style and gives a great result. It will make the beer lovers heart beat a bit faster. An adventure for your senses. Amber coloured with a thin off-white head, Viven Imperial IPA is a good hoppy beer with citrus accents. Fruity nose (peach and pink grapefruit) with floral flavours, recalls a forest (spruce) in the early morning. The hops are prominent. Viven Imperial IPA is pleasently bitter.

Deep copper coloured body with a strong bronze glow and a thick, two centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of alcohol, honey, oak, bread, white pepper, yeast and quite a load of hops - but strong all around. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong hoppy flavour with a big spicey and piney kick and a large malt body along with some dry herbal notes as well. Aftertaste has a bit of spice, some yeast, a little honey and sweetness and finishes with a pleasant effervesce which brings out the floral and grassy characteristics. Overall, a strong beer that shows well throughout that lends itself almost to a Belgian Ale or Tripel that’s a bit hoppy. Nice to sample, although doesn’t compare one-to-one to an American Imperial IPA. Still, a nice option for me in my 5000th rating, Beer #3 to celebrate, an Imperial IPA. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from Bier Temple in Bruxelles, Belgium on 18-January-2015 for €3,00 sampled at home on 15-May-2015. Best Before: 17-November-2016

"An American in Belgium".
