Viven Smoked Porter is a fairly bitter porter beer, with a very smokey flavour. Accents of coffee and dark chocolate make for a powerful aroma in your glass.

Flaske 0,33l delt med Rune pΓ₯ Brasserie Erasmus i Brugge 4 Mai 11. Svart. Lavt, lysebrunt skum. God kaffe- & sjokoladearoma. God lakris & sjokoladesmak. Avslutningen er kaffe. En typeriktig porter. Mye sedimenter igjen pΓ₯ flaska.

Pitch black beer, beige head. Aroma of chocolates, hazelnut, cocoa. Flavour sweet chocolate, slight smoke. Creamy texture. Itβs nice but it seems to miss depth.

Bottle @ home. Pitch black, opaque color! Small to medium off-white to beige head. Smell ash, earth, coffee. Taste coffee, roasted, peated, dark roasted or burned malts. Firm carbo, medium to full body.

Bottle. Black with an inch of tan head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, licorice, dark sugars, wood with some smoke. Taste is fairly dry with chocolate, coffee, mild roasted bitterness, ash. Dry finish with cocoa and smoke. A good beer Iβd never guess was Belgian.

Pours black with a towering dark tan/liqourice coloured moussey head.Nose shows cocoa, roasted coffee and BBQ smoke. Pretty intense.Similarly roasty flavours, lots more coffee and smoke. Underneath is some sweet caramel. Finishes with a powerful roasty bitterness.Carbonation is too high.

330ml bottle shared with Finn at Brasserie Erasmus. Modest fawn coloured head, deep dark-brown coloured body. Dark, mid-sweet malty aroma. Mouth filling taste of coffee bitterness and dark chocolate malts together with hints of anise. Long-lived ending. Tasty stuff (Brugge, 04.05.2011).

Very dark brown beer, creamy beige to brown head, stable and non adhesive. Aroma: mocha, smoke, coffee, charcoal, very dark chocolate. MF: a little too much carbon, full body. Taste: wood, mocha, coffee, smoke, tobacco, more coffee and in the end some coffee. Aftertaste: coffee again, very bitter coffee. A little caramel and some green apples balancing with some tartness. Not my cup of tea, but a very interesting brew and probably good for the stout/porter lovers.
