This long-eared owl is our core range Imperial/double stout. This stout is standard French oak aged. This is a rich and massive full bodied monster with notes of chocolate, ground coffee, anise and vanilla. It even has some smoky and peaty flavours to it and obviously very hoppy as we love it. Get warmed up by this uber complexed- Owl in a bottle. The beer is unfiltered and unpasteurized, and could definitely be stored away even longer to mature some more.

Original review text: Absolutely delicious imperial stout. Pitch black pour, light brown espresso head. Milk chocolate and dark chocolate in the nose, together with some coffee, molasses and caramel. Tastes like milk chocolate and cocoa and a bit of barrel of some kind. I can’t remember exactly, I am writing from memory, but boy, is this beer tasty!

Head nearly gone, black beer. Lactic, but also stoutacidity, whisky, smoked, nearly Islay-like. Sweet-ish, coffee cream, Irish coffee or Bailey’s (with a dash of coffee). Very thick, rich bodied, velvety texture. Nice - and strangely enough, it gives the impression of being stronger than the 16:9!

Dark brown color. Aroma of dark caramel, a hint of chocolate, light vanilla. Smooth, lean, with mild residual sweetness; the flavor is based on dark caramel, no roasted malt, no chocolate flavor, with some vanilla and macadamia nuts, a bit boozy in the final.
Nice, simple among Imperial Stouts.

330mL bottle, pours a reddish dark brown / black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out lots of sherry oxidation and dark fruits. Flavour is along the same lines, with lots of dark fruits, a little caramel and sherry oxidation. A touch old, but it's still very pleasant. Super fruity. Very nice.

Bottle at Billie’s Bier Kafétaria. Pale yellowish beige, stable, lacing head over a near black beer with chestnut brown edges. Rather atypical aroma for an imperial stout (hence the qualification "double" on the label, I assume): strong shoe polish-like phenols, dusty old cocoa powder, pipe tobacco, charcoal, iron, vanilla beans, wet wood, cigar ashes. Softly sourish and umami onset with some candied fig-like sweetness, soft carbo, smooth oily mouthfeel less thick or viscous than expected, caramelly malt sweetishness, very toasted, a bit grainy, roasted with peppery hops in the finish as well as a strong, dry oak effect and warming, whisky-like alcohol. It took me a while to get used to this because it is different from your average RIS, but I sure enjoyed it in the end.
