CM22: Bishops Stortford Waterside Honey. Situated by South Mill Lock on the River Stort Navigation, this calm, canal-side apiary benefits from rich waterside forage – including wispy willow trees, orchards, hedgerows, private gardens and wildflower meadows. A generation ago, there was a thriving 50-hive apiary site at this location. The apiary was reinstated in 2018 – on a much smaller, sustainable scale – appropriately integrating with the varied, out-of-town biodiversity, including a field of prize cows in the field next door.

Panda at home, thanks to Ed Danlo, 21/11/23. Pale almost translucent faded yellow with a thin white wispy cap that settles as a swirl. Nose is sugar, honeydew melon, floral notes. Taste comprises sweet honey, pear notes, sugars, perfume. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, drying close. Okay easy sipper.

500ml bottle from Gosnells. Batch 467. Hazed pale yellowish white colour, white foam head that dissipates and aroma of honey, floral, melon. Taste is sweetish, honey, flowery, with some chalky notes and light tartness. Medium bodied, light carbonation, drying finish. Quite drinkable.
