Thick ancient hedges surround towering old trees in this small orchard on the edge of the Sturts nature reserve in the hamlet of Ailey. A stone’s throw from the orchard that originally inspired us to create Artistraw, the reserve is famed for its kettle hole ponds which were created by glacial retreats 22,000 years ago and its abundance of waxcap fungi (28 species have been recorded!) making it a haven for numerous birds and beasts which also find themselves at home in both neighbouring orchards.

750ml bottle from Artistraw. Hazy pale yellow colour, no head and aroma of perry pear, fruity, fleshy, citric. Taste is tangy, tart, perry pear, fruity, tropical hints, pineapple, lemon, with mellow acidity. Medium bodied, low carbonation, drying fruity peary finish. Nicely drinkable.
