Bottle 33 cl. Pours a clear, reddish brown with a lacing, beige head. Greasy British hops domiate the nose atop som nuts and crystal malt. Rich, sweet body, biscuity, toffeeish, slightly smoky with English licorice. Some late bitterness. Very British in style in spite of the alleged Aussie and Kiwi hops. There's quite a bit happening here. Brewed at Spendrups. 230223

330ml bottle [as Gotlands Winter Bulldog]. Opalescent, chestnut colour with ruby shimmer and small to average, frothy to creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, off-white to beige head. Earthy-fruity, minimally grassy, hoppy and mellow, minimally spicy, malty aroma, hints of dark berries, rye malt-like spiciness, whiffs of liquorice, blue grapes. Taste is slightly bitter, earthy fruity hoppy, slightly spicy malty, hints of dark berries, a touch of liquorice, blue grapes. Slightly oily, watery texture, smooth and soft palate, fine, mildly prickly carbonation. Would rather rubricate this as Amber Ale than Brown Ale; nicely hopped, nice malty spiciness, nice mouthfeel - ergo: nice.

Bottle. Red Amber, low head. Light sugary nose, juicy medium body, great hop balance, nice drink.
